Official Regulations
PREFACE
Please find below the official regulations of the 3rd Composition Competition for Mallet Duo organised by “International Percussion Competition Luxembourg” (IPCL).
You are kindly requested to read these regulations carefully and, in case of interest, to register directly on our website: www.ipcl.lu
All correspondence must be conducted in one of the official languages of the Competition: French or English.
GENERAL CONDITIONS
By applying, each participant fully accepts the present regulations, the French version being the reference text. In the event of any dispute, the courts of Luxembourg shall have jurisdiction.
COMPOSITION
The subject of the 3rd Composition Competition of the International Percussion Competition Luxembourg (IPCL) is a work for mallet duo.
Duration: 7-8 minutes
Each player may use one or more of the following instruments: Marimba, Vibraphone, Xylophone, Glockenspiel.
The use of electronics is not permitted.
The use of artificial intelligence in the process of composition is strictly prohibited.
In August 2026, the jury will select the prize-winning work, which will serve as the set piece for the semi-final round of the IPCL - MALLET DUO 2027 Competition taking place from 6 to 14 February 2027.
PRESENTATION OF THE COMPOSITION
The musical score must be submitted in PDF format. It may be handwritten or digitally engraved but must be perfectly legible.
Anonymity is mandatory: no indication of the composer’s identity may appear on the score. Any indication that compromises anonymity will result in disqualification.
Musical terms and expressions must be written in English or Italian.
A short presentation text of the work may be attached.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The Competition is open to participants of all ages.
Registration Details
Candidates must register directly on the website: www.ipcl.lu (registration form / fiche d’inscription)
Registration is considered complete upon receipt of all the following documents (submitted electronically):
- Musical score (see “Presentation of the Composition”)
- The following documents:
- Curriculum vitae, including artistic/musical background (studies, teachers, etc.)
- Birth certificate or copy of an identity card/passport
- Valid proof of payment of the registration fee
- A recent, high-quality black-and-white photograph, copyright-free and licensed for publicity and publication
Composers may submit more than one work, each requiring a separate registration.

REGISTRATION FEE
The registration fee for the 3rd IPCL Composition Competition is €30 (thirty euros) per submitted work and must be transferred to the following bank account:

Cheques, cash payments, or any other forms of transfer will not be accepted.
All bank charges must be paid by the applicant.
The registration fee is non-refundable.
PROCEDURE
In August 2026 the jury will select the prize-winning work.
The results will be published on www.ipcl.lu, and the winner will receive personal notification.
OFFICIAL PRIZE
Prize money: € 2.500
World premiere: February 2027 during the semi-final round (open to the public) of the IPCL - MALLET DUO 2027
Competition in Luxembourg.
JURY
The decisions of the jury are final and irrevocable. By participating in the Competition, all candidates agree to accept these decisions without appeal.

RIGHTS
The submitted compositions must be unpublished and free of any rights. They must not have been publicly performed, broadcast, published, copied or circulated in any form prior to submission.
Candidates are not permitted to perform the submitted works before the jury’s decision is announced in August 2026. The winning composition, however, must not be performed before the IPCL - MALLET DUO Competition in February 2027.
The award-winning work remains the full and exclusive property of its composer. However, the composer agrees to mention the name “International Percussion Competition Luxembourg” on all visual and audio materials related to the work: score editions, CDs, DVDs, books, programs, posters, etc.
The winning work must bear the following mention: “Winner of the 3rd Composition Competition of the International Percussion Competition Luxembourg - MALLET DUO 2027”.
During the semi-finals of the Competition, a recording will be made for archival and promotional purposes and will be made available to the composer for exclusive promotional use.
By participating in the Competition, composers agree to waive their recording rights, authorizing the organizers to record, reproduce, and distribute performances of their works.
